Support
Protection is enabled by default when Pivot is installed. Private browsing needs a separate permission controlled by each browser.
Start here
Run a safe check
Open the reserved address below. It cannot resolve to a real website. When Pivot is active, the extension replaces it with a local confirmation page and creates no Pivot journal entry.
pivot-check.invalidAllow Pivot in private browsing
Browsers do not let extensions observe private tabs until you grant permission. Use the instructions for your browser, then run the safe check again inside a private window.
Chrome
chrome://extensions > Pivot Details > enable Allow in Incognito.
Microsoft Edge
edge://extensions > Pivot Details > enable Allow in InPrivate.
Firefox desktop
Add-ons and themes > Extensions > Pivot > Run in Private Windows > Allow.
Firefox for Android
Open the browser menu > Extensions > Pivot > enable Run in private browsing.
Safari on macOS
Safari > Settings > Extensions > Pivot. Enable Pivot, set All Websites to Allow, and enable Allow in Private Browsing.
Safari on iPhone or iPad
Settings > Apps > Safari > Extensions > Pivot. Enable the extension and relevant profiles, then set All Websites to Allow, not Ask.
If Pivot does not open
- Open Pivot from the browser toolbar and confirm protection is enabled and not paused.
- Run
pivot-check.invalidin a regular window. If that works, recheck the separate private-browsing permission. - Confirm Pivot has access to all websites where the browser exposes that setting.
- Reload or update the extension after installing a new build, then retry the safe check.
- If permission was revoked, grant it again from the browser's extension details page.
